Data Ethics

Our dataset is powerful. We set guardrails so it’s used to discover, understand, and build — not to spam or harm. These principles apply to all Enterprise customers and are referenced by the API License.

Principles

Prohibited uses

If you’re unsure whether your use case is allowed, email ethics@websitelaunches.com — we’ll review quickly.

Sensitive categories

Default filtering
“Adult & Gambling” is excluded by default across feeds and endpoints. To include it intentionally, pass the explicit L1 filter (see Feeds docs).
PII & personal data
We don’t provide direct personal identifiers. Do not attempt to infer or attach sensitive attributes.
Do-not-list
We honor removal requests; contact dpo@websitelaunches.com.

Operational guidelines

Rate limits
Follow polite usage (e.g., ≤ 1 request/min per unique query). Ask us for higher-throughput needs.
Caching
Respect ETag, Last-Modified, Cache-Control: max-age=300 to reduce load and cost.
Attribution
Link to the item’s /site/{domain} page when embedding records in public UIs where reasonable.
Security
Keep API keys confidential, rotate if leaked, and notify us of suspected abuse.

Governance & contact

Review
We may review usage for compliance and reach out to resolve issues cooperatively.
Escalation
Report concerns to ethics@websitelaunches.com or dpo@websitelaunches.com.
Changes
We’ll publish meaningful updates and provide reasonable notice for breaking changes.
